Join us for the Art of the Label, an exhibition celebrating the rich visual history of Detroit and Michigan’s craft beer scene. From the historic local brews of the early 1900s to the cutting-edge graphic designs of today's modern breweries, this multi-day exhibit showcases how label art helped shape the identity of some of our favorite beers and breweries.
Film Screening & Industry Roundtable: A Two-Hearted Tale
Grab a beverage and settle in for a 45-minute screening of “A Two-Hearted Tale”, directed by Rory McHarg and Bret Miller, and proudly produced right here in Detroit by Woodward Original, RampOrRye, and Reprise Post. This documentary dives into the fascinating origins of Bell’s iconic Two-Hearted Ale trout label and explores the life stories of the eccentric artist behind the masterpiece, Ladislav Hanka.
Following the film, stick around for an exclusive, collaborative roundtable featuring local designers and brewers. We’ll be diving into:
The creative process behind conceptualizing and executing beer label designs.
How visual art authentically reflects and elevates a brewery's brand identity.
The influence of graphic design on commerce and consumer connection.

What to Expect
6:00–6:15 – Arrival & Welcome: Settle in, grab your beer, and get comfortable.
6:15–7:15 – Candle-Making Workshop: Learn the candle-making process and create your own custom soy candle using premium fragrances and wooden wicks.
7:15–7:30 – Sip, Connect & Play: Enjoy your beer while your candle begins to set — we’ll play a fun round of Candle-Maker Bingo with small prizes for a few lucky guests.
7:30–8:00 – Candle Personalization: Decorate and personalize your candle with dried florals, herbs, or crystals for an extra special touch.
